Come, ye thankful people, come, raise the song of harvest home. All is safely gathered in, ere the winter storms begin. God, our Maker doth provide, for our wants to be supplied. Come to God’s own temple, come, raise the song of harvest home. All the world is God’s own field, fruit unto His praise to yield. Wheat and tares together sown – unto joy or sorrow grown. First the blade and then the ear – then the full corn shall appear. Lord of harvest, grant that we – wholesome grain and pure may be. For the Lord our God shall come, and shall take His harvest home. From His field shall in that day, all offenses purge away. Give His angels charge, at last in the fire – the tares to cast. But the fruitful ears to store in His garner evermore. Even so, Lord, quickly come to Thy final harvest home. Gather Thou, Thy people in – free from sorrow – free from sin. There forever purified, in Thy presence to abide. Come with all Thine angels, come, raise the glorious harvest home.

I need Thee every hour, most gracious Lord; No tender voice like Thine can peace afford. I need Thee every hour, stay Thou nearby; Temptations lose their power when Thou art nigh. Refrain I need Thee, O I need Thee; Every hour I need Thee; O bless me now, my Savior, I come to Thee. I need Thee every hour, in joy or pain; Come quickly and abide, or life is in vain. I need Thee every hour, most Holy One; O make me Thine indeed, Thou blessèd Son. Refrain

Tears of remorse were hidden by force – From eyes that were opened within. I knew the calm Voice that gave me the choice – To stay or to change where I’d been – Down ramshackle alleyways – stumbling through hazy daze – When I was already given – Life every day – and Word for my way – So, I gave You my sin. Chorus Now I can give You my song – It’s easy, and not very long. But it’s the next way that I have to say: I can’t give enough to You – Live and show love to You. Jesus, I give You my song. Plans for our equity – social necessity – Building our lives to fit in. But when we left town, it came crashing down – And we plotted our course once again. Down old dead-end avenues – blind where we were going to – When the answer was always within. Just make a shift – start using the gift – Then, I gave You my life. ~~~ Chorus ~~~

Trust & Obey 05:01
When we walk with the Lord, in the Light of His Word, What a glory He sheds on our way. While we do His good will, He abides with us still – And with all, who will trust and obey. Refrain Trust and obey, for there’s no other way To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey. But we never can prove, the delights of His Love, Until all on the altar we lay. For the favor He shows, and the joy He bestows, Are for them who will trust and obey. ~~~Refrain~~~ Then in fellowship sweet, we will sit at His feet, Or we’ll walk by His side, in the Way. What He says, we will do; where He sends, we will go. Never fear, only trust and obey. ~~~Refrain~~~
5.
I love to tell the story of unseen things above, Of Jesus and His glory - of Jesus and His Love! I love to tell the story, because I know ‘tis true, It satisfies my longings, as nothing else can do! Chorus I love to tell the story! ‘Twill be my theme in glory – To tell the old, old story of Jesus and His Love! I love to tell the story; more wonderful it seems, Than all the golden fancies, of all our golden dreams. I love to tell the story - it did so much for me; And that is just the reason I tell it now to thee. ~~~Chorus~~~ I love to tell the story, ‘tis pleasant to repeat; What seems each time I tell it, more wonderfully sweet! I love to tell the story, for some have never heard The message of salvation, from God’s own Holy Word. ~~~Chorus~~~ I love to tell the story; for those who know it best, Seem hungering and thirsting to hear it like the rest. And when in scenes of glory, I sing the new, new song, ‘Twill be the old, old story, that I have loved so long! ~~~Chorus~~~

I know that my Redeemer lives; what comfort this sweet sentence gives. He lives; He lives who once was dead. He lives, my ever-living Head. He lives to bless me with His love; He lives to plead for me, above; He lives, my hungry soul to feed; He lives to help, in time of need. He lives triumphant from the grave; He lives eternally to save; He lives all glorious in the sky; He lives exalted there on high. He lives to grant me rich supply; He lives to guide me with His eye; He lives to comfort me when faint; He lives to hear my soul’s complaint. He lives to silence all my fears; He lives to wipe away my tears; He lives to calm my troubled heart; He lives all blessings to impart. He lives my kind, wise, heavenly Friend; He lives, and loves me to the end; He lives, and while He lives I’ll sing; He lives, my Prophet, Priest and King. He lives, and grants me daily breath; He lives, and I shall conquer death; He lives, my mansion to prepare; He lives to bring me safely there. He lives, all glory to His Name! He lives, my Jesus, still the same! Oh, the sweet joy, this sentence gives: I know that my Redeemer lives!

‘Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus – Just to take Him at His Word. Just to rest upon His promise – Just to know – “Thus saith the Lord”. O, how sweet to trust in Jesus – Just to trust His cleansing Blood. Just in simple faith, to plunge me ‘Neath the healing, cleansing flood. Refrain Jesus, Jesus – how I trust Him – How I’ve proved Him o’er and o’er! Jesus, Jesus – precious Jesus – O, for grace to trust Him more! Yes, ‘tis sweet to trust in Jesus – Just from sin and self to cease; Just from Jesus, simply taking Life and rest, and joy, and peace. I’m so glad I learned to trust Thee – Precious Jesus, Savior, Friend! And I know that Thou art with me – Wilt be with me to the end. ~~~Refrain~~~

I Remember 05:02
I remember that night – when You changed my life – You gave me sight – and You opened my eyes. You were right there – always waiting for me – And you’ll Love me forever – I could finally see. I remember those days – I was finding out – You’re leading my way – and there’s no reason to doubt. If I walk a little slower – let You show me the way – Oh, it’s just so much easier – when I trust and obey. I remember – I remember – When I was in despair – You let me know You were there. I remember – I remember – In a dark and lonely place – You saved me by Your Grace. I remember how You said – that You are the Way – And You said that You would – You’d come back here to stay – And when You return – it will be like it should – Everyone will believe You – and it’ll all be good. I remember – I remember – When I was in despair – You let me know You were there. I remember – I remember – In a dark and lonely place – You saved me by Your Grace.

At the Cross 04:30
Alas, and did my Savior bleed, and did my Sovereign die? Would He devote that Sacred Head, for such a worm as I? Was it for crimes that I have done, He groaned upon the tree? Amazing pity! Grace unknown, and Love beyond degree. Chorus At the cross, at the cross, where I first saw the light, And the burden of my heart rolled away. It was there, by faith I received my sight, And now I am happy all the day! Thus might I hide my blushing face, while Calvary’s cross appears. Dissolve my heart in thankfulness, and melt mine eyes to tears. But drops of grief, can ne’er repay, the debt of love I owe. Here, Lord, I give myself away; ‘tis all that I can do! ~~~Chorus~~~
11.
Deeper, deeper in the love of Jesus, daily let me go. Higher, higher in the school of wisdom; more of grace to know. Deeper, deeper, blessed Holy Spirit, take me deeper still; ‘Till my life is wholly lost in Jesus, and His perfect will. Chorus O deeper yet, I pray, and higher every day; And wiser, blessed Lord, in Thy precious holy Word. Deeper, deeper, though it cost hard trials; deeper let me go. Rooted in the holy Love of Jesus; let me fruitful grow. Deeper, higher every day, in Jesus; ‘till all conflict past, Finds me conqueror, and in His own image, perfected at last. ~~~Chorus~~~ Deeper, deeper in the faith of Jesus; holy faith, and true. In His power, and soul exulting wisdom, let me peace pursue. ~~~Chorus~~~

about

I consider "Climbing Higher" by best album, production-wise. There's some interesting instrumentation included, like a pan flute riff on "At the Cross", harpsichord on "I Know That My Redeemer Lives", and a string ensemble joined by a ethereal choir on the title song.
The opening song is a variation on the classic Thanksgiving hymn, "Come, Ye Thankful People, Come". The rest of the album continues in the same tradition as my other releases, mostly with original variations of classic hymns. But, there are three original compositions in the mix.
"I Give You My Song" is of an autobiographical nature, and refers to my life journey, and ministry.
"I Remember" is actually one of my earliest compositions. It was written in 1980, the year I graduated high school. I used to play it with a local bar-band called "Justus", that I was with in the 80's. It was originally a love ballad called "What We're Missing", and the words were completely different.
The title song, "Climbing Higher" is my first instrumental composition, and has to do with a desire to attain greater heights in my spiritual walk. The melody I attribute to the Holy Spirit, since it just began flowing from me while I was playing during prayer at church. It still gives me goose-bumps when I hear it.
